The battle of Monkey King vs Erlang God takes place in the Heavens. After Monkey King stole the invaluable pills of immortality and wreaked havoc upon the Queen Mother’s Peach Banquet, the Jade Emperor was greatly infuriated and sent 100,000 soldiers to subdue him. The mighty Monkey King beat them all effortlessly. Finally, Heaven’s best general, Erlang God was sent to defeat him and put a complete stop to his upheaval with the help of Taoist and Buddhist Gods, ending the countless episodes of chaos and disorder that the Monkey King had caused.

On a super high relief, the ferocious gaze of Monkey King and Erlang God are presented side by side to a remarkably vivid effect. With both their teeth bared in aggression and the arresting glare of the two powerful Gods head-to-head, this piece becomes a profound artifact that showcases the absolute intensity of their battle. In particular, careful attention is also paid to their armor as a mark of both their prowess in combat. 

Between them lies a statue of the Monkey King wielding his weapon, the Compliant Golden-Hooped Rod (Ruyi Jingu Bang 如意金箍棒), fully colored in gold as the finishing touch on this sculpture. The obverse features the legal tender of Niue Island, the official effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

A new minting technique called “Bi-Metal Plus” was applied to give this piece its remarkable weight and 80mm diameter size – double the size of the regular 2 oz collectible. This is made possible by combining 11.5 oz of copper embodied within two layers of 99.9 fine-silver totaling 2 oz, to deliver a super ultra-high relief topped with silver antiqued finishing.
