2 oz Pure Silver Coin – Republique du Tchad 2020 – 5000 Francs CFA
First established in the early 14th century, The Nine Worthies are a collective of nine personages presented by Jacques de Longuyon in his book, “The Vows of the Peacock”. The list is separated into three distinct groups of Pagans, Jews, and Christians. All men within the list share traits of chivalry and gallantry, and continue to be highly regarded by many for each of their unique virtues even up till this day, inspiring art and literature all over the world.
The first piece from the triad of Jews – Joshua is the faithful servant and successor of Moses, the mighty leader who led the Israelites into the Promised Land. He was noted in the Bible as a sincere and loyal man who devoted his heart and soul to his master. Joshua holds the traits of righteousness and integrity, as demonstrated when he returned as one of the only two truthful spies, out of twelve men who were sent to explore the land of Canaan. His military acumen and solid leadership skills eventually led him and his people to the conquest of the Holy Land of Israel.
In this piece, Joshua is showcased in his armor, befitting of his pivotal role in the conquest of the Holy Land. A strong gaze and firm expression are artfully sculpted upon his face to mirror his fierce devotion to his faith and sturdy military leadership. Surrounding him are the intricate elements of the butterfly and serpent – chosen symbols that represent change, rebirth, and the renewal of life to match his status as the appointed successor of Moses.
A new minting technique called “Bi-Metal Max” was applied to give this piece its remarkable weight and 80mm diameter – double the size of the regular 2 oz collectible. This is made possible by combining 11.5 oz of copper as a base with a top layer of 2 oz of 999 fine silver, resulting in a super ultra-high relief topped with silver antiqued finishing.
