2 oz Pure Silver Coin – Niue Island 2020 – 5 Dollars with 0.1 oz Pure Silver Note/ Certificate of Authenticity – Niue Island 2020 – 25 Cents
First established in the early 14th century, The Nine Worthies are a collective of nine personages presented by Jacques de Longuyon in his book, “The Vows of the Peacock”. The list is separated into three distinct groups of Pagans, Jews, and Christians. All men within the list share traits of chivalry and gallantry, and continue to be highly regarded by many for each of their unique virtues even up till this day, inspiring art and literature all over the world.
From the triad of Pagans comes the first piece in this series — Hector of Troy, an honorable hero, warrior, and esteemed defender of his city. Even as the only one out of the Nine Worthies who was not a conquering hero, he exemplifies the chivalrous traits of loyalty, courage, and nobility through his time as the greatest warrior of the city of Troy, who fell honorably in defeat to Achilles. Hector of Troy remains highly esteemed for his virtues of bravery and courtly behavior.
In this precious collectible, Hector is presented at an angle to truly reflect his peace-loving nature as opposed to the hardiness and aggression of a forward-looking profile. He is portrayed in full attire and headgear to honor his history as a gallant warrior, complemented with chameleons and eagles that run through the obverse, representing his strengths of fearlessness and courage in pursuit of freedom and sovereignty for his home. The obverse features the legal tender of Niue Island, the official effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
At 80mm diameter, this piece is double the size of a regular 2 oz collectible, giving it an incredible weight and feel that truly matches the gravity and status of Hector of Troy. This is made possible with a new minting technique called “Bi-Metal Plus”, which combines 11.5 oz of copper embodied within two layers of 99.9 fine-silver totaling 2 oz, to deliver a super ultra-high relief topped with silver antiqued finishing.
This is a limited edition of 500 pieces only. Each piece is packaged and delivered with the Certificate of Authenticity which comes in the form of a silver note, made in 0.1 oz of 999 pure silver. The obverse features the legal tender of Niue Island, the official effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
